New Google and Yahoo! Webmaster Support Centers (provided by Larry Sivitz of SearchWrite)

Good things in the search world seem to come in pairs. Each time Google or Yahoo! announces a compelling new service or feature, the other is not far behind. So it is with the creation (or consolidation at any rate) of two new Webmaster Support Resources that attempt to improve communication between the search engines and those who manage Web properties and search campaigns.

The Google Webmaster Central contains:

1. A site status wizard which you can use to check if and how your site is being spidered by Google.
2. Webmaster tools (a rebranding of Google Sitemaps service for giving Google data about your web site).< /li>
3. Info on how to submit your site to Google (including information on Google Base, the Google Books Partner Program, and Google Video Uploads).
4. A new Google Blog for Webmasters, with information on index updates, crawlers, and other technical issues.
5. A Google discussion group for Webmasters.
6. And, finally, a Webmaster Help Center, which gathers many of the most relevant help pages in on forum.< li/>

Yahoo!'s Webmaster Help section contains:

1. A link to the Yahoo! Search Blog.
2. Search Help (like Google, Yahoo! has gathered all relevant help pages in one spot).
3. Search Content Guidelines — in essence a discussion of what Yahoo! considers “good practices” and what it considers spam.
4. A form for reporting spam.
5. Support Feedback form. This is the protocol to report problems with Yahoo’s spiders, get help in removing pages from their index, copyright issues, or beg Yahoo! for forgiveness.
6. The Yahoo! Site Explorer lets you analyze the standing of your own site (or that of your rival's). This is a popular tool among search engine marketers as it gives a much more accurate picture of your number of back-links than Google.
7. A Submit Page, which provides information on how to submit your site for free, Yahoo!'s pay per click text ad program and Yahoo!’s Search Submit Express.
