Support - Default Pages
Every webserver requires the Administrator to set "default" pages. What does this mean? A default page is a page the webserver will look for in each directory to load if no page is specified. For an example, when you go to www.adhost.com, you are not specifying what page you would like to see. So the server searches for the default pages. If none of the default pages are present, the browser will display an error. You can have many default pages listed. The server will search for those pages by priority. So if the server cannot find the top default page it will try the next one in line.
Adhost usually sets these default pages:
- index.html
- index.htm
- default.html
- default.htm
What if you would like a different page? You can request that a default page be added or moved up in priority. Just send an email to support@adhost.com.
