Product-to-Product
Product relationships display on the product detail page in whatever manner has been designed into your Adhost Merchant Storefront GUI. If you are using the Merchant "Out-of-the-box", default display is in a column to the right of the product description. Related products are reciprocal and will always display on the product detail pages of both partners in the relation set.
Managing Product-to-Product Relationships
To create product relationships, log in to your Admin area, choose Catalog from the navigation dropdown and select Product Relationships from the page top options. If relationships already exist, they will be displayed (usually, the Adhost Merchant copy deployed for you will contain demonstration products and relationships as examples).
To Add a new product-to-product relationship
- Click the "Add New Product to Product Relationship" link at the bottom of the page
- Follow the instructions to select the "from" and "to" categories.
- Follow the instructions to select the "from" and "to" products.
- Click the "Continue" button
You will be taken back to the Product Relationship page where you may:
Edit Sort Order For cases in which a product is related to multiple other products you may use the sort order editing options to control the order in which the links to the related products appear on that product’s detail page. By default, sort order is assigned by order of entry.
Edit a relationship Click the pencil and paper icon.
Delete a relationship Click the trash can icon.
Product-to-Content
The Adhost Merchant also allows the relationship of FAQ’s or Documents to products. If FAQ’s or Documents have been related to a product, a link to them will appear under the product picture on the product detail page. An FAQ link will go directly to that FAQ in the same browser window. A Document link will open in a new window.
Managing Product-to-Content Relationships
To establish a Product-to-Content relationship, log in to your Admin area, choose Catalog from the navigation dropdown and navigate to the product for which you wish to establish a relationship.
Toward the bottom of the Product options, you will find select boxes for "Faq Relationship" and "Document Library Relationship". Select a Document or FAQ (to select multiple, hold down your control key while selecting). Click the save button at the top of the page.
To delete a relationship, return to the same boxes and click the selected Document or FAQ to unselect it. Click the save button at the top of the page.
