Merchant Support - Base and Product
Base+Product and UPS Shipping is a flexible tool that allows you to calculate and apply shipping per zone that you create. To use the UPS rates and services, you will need to register with UPS as an End User to get your Access License Number, user ID and password. For information on that, please go to: http://www.ups.com/e_comm_access/gettools_index?loc=en_US. No license is required to use the Base+Product Methods. Instructions for both are below.

Shipping types are the methods of shipping, such as Ground, Express, or Next Day Air. Base+Product displays the shipping types you enter in the Shipping Type area (see above) at the bottom of the Base+Product & UPS page. Each type can be individually selected as active for each Shipping Zone. The price of each type can also be specified for each Shipping Zone. If you choose UPS for a zone, the types you enter here are not used. Instead, the available UPS rates that you choose to implement are displayed (more on that below). You may enter as many rates here as you wish.
Shipping Zones
are used to vary the shipping costs according to country. Multiple countries can be selected for each zone, and the chosen rates for each type will be applied to that country.

For example, a zone might be created for shipping inside the US, since it is often cheaper. For this zone, you would only have the United States selected in the country list. You would select which ship types you wanted to be available for this zone. When users with a US ship address check out, only the types you have defined for this zone will be exposed to them.
Selecting UPS Rates
To choose UPS for a zone, click the radio button labeled "Use UPS Rates & Services". This will refresh the page and expose a multiple select box with all available UPS rates. Hold down the control key as you click the rates you want to make available to the zone.
Handling Charge and Shipping Multiplier
A UPS enabled zone also exposes two radio button choices for selecting whether to assess a Handling Charge or to add to the actual rate returned from UPS.
- Handling Charge is a flat dollar amount noted as a separate charge on the shipping page which appears as as separate line item
- Shipping Multiplier is a percentage that is calculated against and added to the rate returned from UPS. It does not appear as a separate charge
NOTE: To switch back to Base+Product for a zone, just uncheck the "Use UPS Rates & Services" checkbox. The page will refresh with the selected zone now exposing the Base=Product tools.
