Merchant Support - Adding Products
Your Adhost Merchant store may be populated through the web admin area by adding and editing products and categories one at a time. However, for most users, it is much more efficient to make use of the upload spreadsheets that are provided for bulk import and edit of products and categories.
Click Field Lists to the right for a description of the Merchant's category, product and size tables. This list also includes basic instructions for preparing the upload sheets used to populate your catalog. Access to the actual upload sheets and complete instructions for upload are available within your Merchant admin once you have licensed a Merchant.
Note on Product Descriptions: The long description is used on the product detail page. By default, short description is not displayed. It is available to use when the product is listed on the category drill-out page along with other products, but requires a programming adjustment to enable.
Multiple Categories: The Adhost Merchant allows associating a single product to multiple categories. Simply hold down the control key as you left click the categories in the Category Select box.
Note on Price: The Merchant allows entry and display of a "Price", and a "Sale Price" and selection of which will be displayed and/or used. Example: If you enter a price and a sale price, select to display both but select to use the sale price, both will be seen but the sale price calculated on the order.
Sizes:
After entering a Product and saving changes, a "Sizes" table will appear at the bottom of that product's edit page. Each time you add a size and save, a new row will appear. Simply add sizes till done. The Size table will hold size and color information as well as price and inventory per size. If price information is not entered, the size prices will default to the product price (or sale price depending on which is active - see Note on Price above). You may also enter a custom label name for the size dropdown per product.
Size Price vs. Product Price Note! Within a product, if a size price is entered for one size, you must enter a size price for all sizes. Attempting to enter price for one size and not entering it for other sizes, will present and charge a "0.00" amount.
An "Attribute 2" table is also available per product if your product requires users to select an additional attribute. The display name for this can be edited as above for sizes. The second attribute table does not track price or inventory but allows entry of a value name and a sort order for the dropdown display. Note that the attributes you enter here are related to the product NOT the sizes table.
