The fastest and easiest to use FTP program available. WS_FTP is set up with an Internet Explorer style interface which is easy to use and allows you to organize your files for transfer in a logical manner. The program can store multiple FTP sites if you have files listed on multiple servers. Just configure each site with your login information and save it as a new connection profile. Once you have established your connection to your FTP site, you can transfer files by simply clicking on an "arrow" button which sends the files back and forth between your local system and the remote server. WS_FTP allows for quick file transfers, renaming, deleting, changing or making directories. Standard shift-clicking and ctrl-clicking allows you to select and send multiple files in a single step also.
Connecting
WS_FTP contains a remote host profile capability. Once the profile information is entered, you can connect to a remote host (server) by simply clicking on the connect button, choosing a profile from the list and then clicking on the OK button.
Session Properties Setup
- 'General' tab sheet
Select 'New' - Session Properties
Profile Name : Anything You Want
Host Name : your_domain.com
Host Type : Automatic Detect
User ID : FTP User ID
Password : FTP Password
Account : Leave Blank - 'Startup' tab sheet
Initial Remote Host Directory : leave blank
Initial Local Directory : path on your hard drive (C:...) where you have stored your Web pages - Click 'Apply'
- Click 'OK' (if you do not want to connect at this point click "cancel")
