Support - EMM Tutorial - Create your email templates

The template is essentially the body and subject of your mailings

There are 2 formats: HTML and plain text. We suggest using both at the same time.*

The name field is a way for you to differentiate your templates.

The icon will give you info on adding dynamic content (subscribers email names, unsubscribe links, etc)

1. Log in to your EMM account at http://emm.adhost.com with your customer code, email address, and password.
2. Click on Content-Templates-Create New Template

 



 

3. You will need to choose a name for your template and a subject line for the outgoing email. Notice that the templates default setting is for “Plain Text.” If you will be creating a plain text version of your newsletter you may both copy and paste the text into the text box type your content directly in.

 



 

4. If you will be creating an HTML version of your email newsletter, click on the “HTML” button and copy and paste your code into the empty box. All images and objects within your code should contain the full path. Upload your newsletter images to a folder on your website, then link to those images (within your template code) by the full path/URL.
   For example :
   <img src="http://www.mydomain.com/images/newsletterimage.jpg">
   Then click create
5. You can then look at a finished version of your template email by clicking the “Preview” button (within the template or in the template list) . The default view for the template is HTML, click the “Plain Text” link to show the plain text version. This allows you to make any necessary changes before you test your email campaign.
6. Be sure to include an unsubscribe option in each and every email you send. To do this, click on the purple info icon . This will bring up a pop-up window giving you the unsubscribe code to copy and paste into your text newsletter, which allows the system to automatically process any unsubscribes and remove them from your list. This information page will also give you additional editing tags you can utilize to personalize your emails with your customer’s first name, city, etc.
