Support - EMM Tutorial - Send your email marketing campaign

Once you have tested your email template you will be ready to send out your email campaign. Keep in mind the best day of week and time of day to reach your customers (i.e. Monday mornings are usually not the best time). The ideal day and time will vary depending upon the nature of your business and the demographics of your target audience.

  1. Click on the “lists” button and scroll down to “run list”.
  2.

  3. On the next page choose your list name and “All Subscribers” from the drop-down menus then click “Continue”.
  4. The next screen allows you to choose the template and format* options for sending out your campaign. You must also enter your password then click “Run List”.
  5.

  6. As an added measure of safety, pop-up window will then appear asking you to confirm that the list and template you have chosen are correct. This window also gives you details such as the number of subscribers in the list and whether you have the tracking feature enabled. Once you click “OK” your email campaign will be sent and you will see a progress bar that will tell you when all of the emails have been sent.
  7. If it takes a few minutes for the progress bar to move, you can check where your email campaign is located in the queue on the server. Click on “lists” then scroll down to “view tasks”. This screen will show you what other tasks are being run on the email server and their estimated time of completion. The queue is set up on a first come, first serve basis.
  8. You will also receive email notification when your list has been sent.

Multipart MIME

Many email clients (programs) will display HTML formatted messages. Some will not. To make sure that you get the best results (HTML messages) but at the same time, make sure you are not leaving anyone out (plaintext) you want to send your messages Multipart/MIME. This will send an HTML/Plaintext package that will display HTML if the receiver is able to view HTML and display plaintext if not.

With HTML you can add color and images, track “opens”, make your links “pretty” and much more. Plain text is simple, requires no coding skills but your links will not look like you wish them to look.

There are two places where you can specify the Multipart format. When setting up a list you can specify “Automatically create a merged HTML/Plain-text (multipart) message” so that all messages to this list will be multipart. When you send out a list, you can also specify then. Make sure you provide both HTML and Plain text content in your template, otherwise some people will get a blank message. If you will only have one format in your template, make sure you only send as that format.
