Support - iPhone Email HTML Tutorial
The iPhone Mail client is a rich HTML email client that retrieves your email in the background while you do others things on iPhone. iPhone works with the most popular email systems as well as most industry-standard POP3 and IMAP email systems, such as those used by Adhost. Mail lets you send and receive photos and graphics, which are displayed in your message along with the text. You can also get PDFs and other attachments and view them on iPhone.
Setting Up Your Adhost E-Mail Account
- If you are not already there, return to the main iPhone menu. You can do this by pushing the main button at the bottom of the front of the iPhone.
- Tap the Settings button.
- In the Settings menu, tap Mail.
- In the Mail menu under Accounts, tap Add Account...
- In the Add Account... menu, tap Other.
- In the Other menu, you can enter your e-mail account's settings.
- Type of server (at the top of the menu): Adhost recommends choosing IMAP for your connection if you are not using the iPhone as your main recipient of e-mails (for example, if you have a computer you usually download e-mail on). Adhost supports both IMAP and POP.
- Name: Enter the name you want displayed on e-mails you send.
- Address: Enter your full e-mail address.
- Description: Enter a description for your e-mail account. This will be displayed as the account's name on the iPhone.
- Incoming Mail Server: Host Name: Enter: mail.adhost.com
- Incoming Mail Server: Username: Enter your POP account's username.
- Incoming Mail Server: Password: Enter your POP account's password.
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): Host Name: Enter: mail.adhost.com
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): Username: Leave this blank.
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): Password: Leave this blank.
- Once finished entering your settings, tap the Save button in the upper right hand corner. The iPhone will verify your account settings, and once done, will return you to the Mail menu.
When using AT&T's EDGE network for connections, you should have no issues connecting to Adhost mail servers. However, if you are connecting to the Internet on the iPhone using a third-party wireless network, there is the possibility that the outlying provider will block the standard outgoing SMTP port (25). In this case, you will need to either use the AT&T EDGE network to send your mail, or change your SMTP port to 587, our alternate SMTP port.
To Change Your Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) Port
If you are not already there, return to the main iPhone menu. You can do this by pushing the main button at the bottom of the front of the iPhone.

- In the Mail menu under Accounts, tap the name of the e-mail account in question.
- In the account's menu, scroll to the bottom and tap Advanced.
- Scroll down to Outgoing Settings, and tap Server Port.
- Change the server port from 25 to 587.
