How to setup mail.adhost.com email accounts on the Adhost mail server.

Step 1: Login to the Adhost Client Login here: https://client.adhost.com

Step 2: Choose "E-Mail Manager" link from the left hand navigation menu.

Step 3:

A) Enter the full name of the person or a description of the account that will be using this new email account in the "Full Name" field.
B) Enter a user name. This is not the person’s name, nor is it the name of the email address you wish to use. It is only the name of the actual POP3 mail account on the Adhost mail server. For example, if your domain is "mydomain.com" then, you might name the first POP3 account something like "mydomain1" and then name the following mail accounts for others like "mydomain2" and "mydomain3", etc... This name must be unique and, common names like "mike" or "heather" are probably already taken. The net result of this is that you have now created an actual POP3 account of mydomain1@mail.adhost.com.

Step 4: Create and confirm a secure password. Secure means that you must use a password that is 6 - 8 characters long and it's highly recommended that you mix numbers and letters, upper and lower case. Try not to use common passwords such as "password".

Step 5: Click "Add Pop Account" button to create POP3 email account.

Step 6: Once you submit this change you will now see this newly created account listed at the top of the page. Continue to create other POP3 accounts as needed and make a note of the account names and passwords.

Step 7: Once you've created all the POP3 accounts you need you MUST now associate these accounts with your domain. This is done by creating email alias accounts. To continue, click the "Email Aliases" drop down menu and select the domain that you are setting up email addresses for.

Step 8: Enter the name of the actual email address you'd like to use in the "Alias" field. For example if you wished to use mike@mydomainmain.com then you would enter in mike for the "Alias" and you would then enter in the actual POP3 account that you want to associate with mike. Using our example from above enter in mydomain1 in the "POP User" field. Click on "Add Alias" to create this new email account.

The newly created email address is now setup and fully operational.

Step 9: Continue the steps 7 and 8 to create other aliases and associate them with the other POP3 accounts you had previously setup.

Configure your email client software to use these newly created accounts.

In general this process is the same for any email cient software you wish to use such as: Microsoft Outlook, Eudora Mail, Netscape Communicator, Microsoft Entourage, etc.

There are 4 pieces of information that any email client software needs:

  1. POP3 username. In the example above this is mydomain1.
  2. POP3 password for mydomain1. Did you write that down? We hope so.
  3. Incoming mail server: mail.adhost.com
  4. Outgoing mail server: In general this should be mail.adhost.com however many ISPs now only allow the use of thier outgoing mail server. Please contact your ISP for this information.

With these 4 pieces of information you should be able to configure your email client and begin using your new email address.
