Support - Leaving Email on the Server

When this setting is enabled (the checkbox is checked or ticked):

  • All new messages are downloaded to your computer in addition to being copied and saved on the mail server in the current mail directory.
  • Having different directories for your mail is how Adhost can differentiate between new mail messages and ones that have been copied and saved per your “leave copy of messages on the server” setting.

This setting does have 3 options:

  1. Remove from server after: x number of days
    • We recommend no more than 10 days so you do not end up using too much space (maximum storage space allowed is 20MB).
    • This will save a copy of the message for 10 days, on day 11 (from the date message copied) the message will be removed from the server.
  2. Remove from server after deleted from ‘Deleted Items’
    • This will remove the message from the server when deleted from the ‘Deleted Items’ folder or ‘Trash’ as it is called in some email clients.
  3. Or, both (remove after ‘10’ days & from ‘deleted items’ folder) are enabled:
    • This will remove the message after 10 days UNLESS the message is deleted from the ‘Deleted Items'/'Trash’ folder first.

How to remove your messages from our server.

Follow the steps to "Leave Copy Of Messages On The Server," but make sure that the option is now unselected. Click Send and Receive in your email client, or exit and restart the program. Sending and receiving tells our server to remove all messages which were previously being left on our server. To restart saving messages on our server repeat the steps to “Leave Copy Of Messages On The Server.” Ensure that the "Leave Copy Of Messages On The Server" option is selected to begin resaving messages.
