Support - Allow My IP Address - MS-SQL

Adhost denies all traffic to our SQL servers from outside of our network with only specific exceptions as arranged through our Webmaster department. You will not be able to access any of the Adhost SQL servers unless at least one of the following requirements is satisfied:

  1. We have specifically allowed the IP of which your are connecting with to pass through our firewall
  2. You are connecting from specific IP address within the Adhost network.

To access your database, you will need to:

  1. Indentify any IP addresses that you will need to be granted access to the Adhost SQL servers.
  2. Fill out and submit the "Allow My IP Address" form so that Adhost can permit the necessary IP addresses to access the Adhost SQL servers.
  3. Allow one business day/24 hours for Adhost to review and verify your IP address.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What's my IP address?

This form below will determine your IP address. If you have multiple machines that appear to come from different IP's you will need to repeat the form to record them all.

What does the "Allow My IP Address" form do?

It identifies your IP address and allows you an easy way to submit your information so that we may allow your IP to pass through our firewall.

What if I am using a dynamic IP address?

You submit the IP address that you are currently using and be prepared to inform us when this changes so that we may update our access lists. Until this new IP address is updated you will not be able to access your SQL database.

My IP address changes all the time or I connect from many different places, what can I do?

  1. Use our Web interface at https://sqlmanager.adhost.com to perform operations on your database. This web site is publically available and requires an secure browser session - SSL. Please note: this Web interface will not work with SQL Server 2005.
  2. Create a remote connection back to your own computer that has been previously allowed access. An example would be creating a port forwarding rule in your home firewall and using Remote Desktop to connect to your XP machine at home from your remote location.
  3. Design a custom application, create a web interface to access your SQL data and manipulate it.

I have more than one database on separate SQL servers, will this require more than one access list?

No, once we have allowed your IP address you will be able to access any SQL server located behind our firewall.

What do I do if my IP address changes in the future? How will I notify Adhost?

Return to this page and submit the form again - you may wish to bookmark this page. The Adhost webmaster team will be notified and update the access lists to allow your new IP.

Is the "Allow My IP Address" form automated? Will my IP submission take effect immediately?

No, because the "Allow My IP Address form" is publicly accessible each submission will be reviewed by a Adhost webmaster prior to being allowed access through the firewall.
