Support - FTP and FTP Manager
Via the cPanel® FTP Manager you can create additional FTP accounts for entire sites or specific sub-domains. Via the interface you can also set up anonymous FTP as well as editing FTP messages.
- FTP Accounts:
To add a new FTP account from the FTP manager menu click on FTP Accounts. From there link on the link in the middle of the screen that says “Add FTP Account”. From there you can set the ftp login information, an ftp quota (optional) and the top level directory the user will be directed to when they log in. Once the information has been added, click on the “Create” button to add the new FTP account. - Anonymous FTP Access:
Anonymous FTP access allows users to access certain directories without a password. After clicking on “Anonymous FTP Access” from the FTP manager screen there will be to check boxes to allow access to the following directories: ftp://ftp.<yourdomain> and ftp://ftp.<yourdomain>/incoming. Select the check boxes for the associated directory you would like to allow access then click the “Save Settings” button. - Anonymous FTP Message:
An anonymous FTP message is a selection of text that is displayed to a user when the log into one of the directories set for anonymous access as set in the Anonymous FTP Access interface. Type whatever message your feel would be appropriate and click on the “Save Message” button.
FTP via Third-Party Application:
Of the many different ways to FTP to your cPanel® account, the most common way is to FTP to cp0.adhost.com with the user name and password that you use to log into the cPanel® main page. You can also use any of your parked or add-on domains as the host but the username and password will remain the same. If you have created additional FTP accounts you can also use those to log in. Unless the default directory has been specified when you log in you will automatically be taken to you home directory. To upload content you must browse to the “public_html” directory then the folder associated with site you are uploading for.
