Mail Boxes

Overview

The Mail Boxes section allows you to view, add and modify all the current mailboxes for your account. The mailboxes are listed on the left hand side in the form of username@mail.adhost.com.

Add Mail Box

To add a new mail box, simply fill out the Add Mail Box section and click Add Mail Box.

Please note that special consideration must be taken when choosing your username. All usernames are shared among all the Adhost customers who have mail boxes on the Adhost mail server, so it's possible that your choice of username may already be taken. Since the username will not be displayed in your emails you can append numbers or simply choose a different username if your first choice is not available. The username will be used by your email client when setting up the email account and when checking mail with Webmail.

The Mailbox Label is used by our Technical Support staff to differentiate between different mail boxes. There are no minimum requirements for the Mailbox Label, except that it cannot be blank.

Upon sucessfull mail box creation you will see your new mail box added to the list of existing mailboxes. The mail box naming format is username@mail.adhost.com. In order to have a personalized email address on your domain you will have to set up a Domain Email Address and target the newly created mail box.

Special note: Each mail box is technically a valid email address that can be used as is for sending and receiving mail and it will show up as username@mail.adhost.com to your recipients.

Manage Existing Mail Boxes

The following actions can be performed on an existing mailbox:

Change password
Delete mailbox
List all domain email addresses aliased to a mailbox
Manage SPAM mail filters

Change password

The password is changed on the mailbox, not on a domain email address. If you need to change the password for example@example.com you first need to find out its target mail box(es). See the Domain Email Addresses section for information on how to retrieve the mail box name.

Delete Mail Box

A mail box can only be deleted when it is not a target of a domain email address. See the Domain Email Addresses section for information on how to remove domain email addresses targeted to a mail box.

List all Domain Email Addresses targeted to a Mail Box

This will only list all domain email addresses that are aliased to a particular mail box. In order to add or remove domain email addresses see Domain Email Addresses section.

Manage SPAM filters

Our SPAM filters allow you to adjust the level of SPAM filtering for a particular mail box. The SPAM filtering is performed on each mail box, not on a domain email address. For a detailed overview of the mail filter settings capabilities please see the Spam Filters section.
