Cloud Server Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I install any software or program on my cloud server?
Yes, as the administrator of your server, you have full control with administrative root-level access and can install any software or application. Of course, you must follow our Service Agreement and Acceptable Use Policy.
2. Who installs operating system updates and security patches on my cloud server?
As part of your monthly hosting fee, Adhost system administrators will perform operating system updates and security patches as they are released. You are responsible for updates to the software and applications that you install.
3. How much support is included with cloud server hosting?
Your monthly fee includes:
- Backups every other night
- Offsite monitoring
- Security patches
- Anti-virus protection
- Security scanning and reporting
- Advanced monitoring
You will need to have a decent level technical expertise to operate a server. If you need additional assistance operating your cloud server, you can request technical support from our system administrator team and you will be billed for the time required. You can also take advantange of our Server Care package.
4. What is pre-installed on my cloud server?
Windows installation includes:
- Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2003
- ASP.NET 4.0
- IIS7
- Web Platform Installer (learn more)
Linux installation includes:
- Operating system (CentOS, Debian, Red Hat Enterprise)
- MySQL database
5. How do I access my cloud server?
Using your Access.Adhost control panel, you will have self-serve access to your server environment and can make changes, add services and monitor performance as needed. You can also use remote desktop administration to access the server.
6. Can I add more CPU, memory and space to my cloud server?
Yes, through your control panel you can increase your CPU, memory and diskspace.
7. Is there a limit to how many Web sites I can have on my cloud server?
You can have an unlimited number of sites on your cloud server. If you need more space or memory, you can easily add it when it becomes necessary.
8. How often is my cloud server backed up?
We back up the cloud servers every other night and keep five days of backups. If you need your cloud server restored, we can restore the entire server to the most recent backup. If you need a single file restored, you will be billed for the time required. If you need a more robust file level backup, we can configure it for you for an additional set-up fee.
9. What are the benefits of cloud servers?
