Cell Systems Client Case Study

Posted in Company News,Web development

cell-systems

So you say you need some live cell lines for your research? Well, we have designed and built the site for you. Actually, we built it for Cell Systems Corporation – developers and manufacturers of standard research tools for the science of cell biology.

The site is built on Adhost Content Management System and loosely coupled to a CFWebstore Shopping Cart. On the CMS side, we helped define and then built a custom content ‘configurator’ to handle the creation of custom ‘Cell Certificates’. On the cart side, we did the same for a complex system of domestic and international shipping and handling options intended to ensure that regardless of what you ordered or where you were, the fresh or frozen cell lines would arrive in good condition and correctly packed.

Fisher Plaza East and Adhost East Data Center Update

Posted in Company News

We are pleased to announce that Adhost and Fisher Plaza have completed the major steps required to safeguard our services following the event and subsequent outage experienced by the Adhost East Data Center (EDC) in early July of 2009. During this process we identified and have implemented a number of improvements which we feel greatly enhance our ability to continue to operate even during significant events. The highlights of these improvements include:

• Fisher Plaza has made improvements in their electrical infrastructure and has completely isolated the electrical paths from the utility service into the two switchgears.
• Fisher Plaza completely replaced all of the affected gear and re-built the switch gear room.
• Adhost has added additional UPS redundancy.
• Adhost has achieved switchgear redundancy for all critical electrical loads in the EDC.
• Adhost has achieved switchgear redundancy for all HVAC operations in the EDC.
• Adhost has updated its emergency communications plan to include off-site emergency notification facilities as well as taking advantages of services such as Twitter for more constant communication in case of significant outages.

Of course, there have been many smaller upgrades and improvements as well. Taken as a whole, these changes will enhance not only our footing going into a significant event, but also improve the response and lessen or eliminate the impact that surround such events. In short, if the same event – or a similar one – were to happen today, Adhost would be able to maintain continuous operations throughout.

Adhost and Fisher Plaza continue to analyze the physical plant infrastructure. There are additional milestones that have been identified for future upgrades and improvements. All of the identified future projects are dependent on, and will be triggered by, growth of electrical and mechanical loads in the building. We will be sure to share these with you as they arise.

We are committed to providing an unparalleled hosting experience. We thank you for your continued business and your trust in us.

Warmest Regards,
Will Riffle
President and CEO

Adhost Powers the New Orleans Saints Web Site

Posted in Company News

saintsThe Adhost Team would like to congratulate the New Orleans Saints on their incredible Super Bowl victory. As a behind-the-scenes partner for the Saints, Adhost supplies the redundant bandwidth, dedicated servers, Web server administration, system monitoring, data back-up, and firewall services to their Web site.

It has been exciting to watch the correlation of the Saints’ dramatic success on the field to their greatly increased network activity.  After the Saints won the Super Bowl, their traffic reached an all-time high.  Although unsurprised, we were pleased that our network handled their extra traffic without an issue.

The Saints have been an Adhost client for the last three NFL seasons. We work closely with the Cypress Consulting, another Seattle company, which provides the Web site development for www.neworleanssaints.com. Site features include Saints news, player interviews, photo galleries, ticket sales, and community news.

Of course, we are pleased that the Saints won. But more importantly, we are happy for the people of New Orleans who suffered such devastation during Katrina.
