Free Hosting for WebMatrix Beta
Posted in Company News,Technology
Today Microsoft launched WebMatrix Beta – a tool for developers to to build, test and deploy web applications. We’ve been working closely with the Microsoft IIS team on testing this new tool and making it easy to deploy a site at Adhost to try out the features. Here’s how Microsoft describes WebMatrix:
WebMatrix is everything you need to build Web sites using Windows. It includes IIS Developer Express (a development Web server), ASP.NET (a Web framework), and SQL Server Compact (an embedded database). It streamlines Web site development and makes it easy to start Web sites from popular open-source apps. The skills and code you develop with WebMatrix transition seamlessly to Visual Studio and SQL Server.
You can learn more about the features and then sign up for free beta hosting at Adhost. The beta hosting offer includes 1 GB of space and 100 GB of monthly data transfer.

ASP.NET 4.0 Hosting is Live
Posted in Company News,TechnologyWe are excited to announce that Adhost now offers Microsoft’s newly released ASP .NET 4.0 on all of our shared Windows hosting plans. ASP.NET 4.0 is the newest version of Microsoft’s web application framework and allows programmers to build dynamic web sites and web applications. You can learn more about ASP.NET 4.0 on this ASP.NET blog.
Existing sites for Adhost clients will remain set to 2.0. All new sites will be set to 4.0 (there is no 3.0 or 3.5 selection, that functionality is included in 2.0 and 4.0). We do not plan to install 4.0 on our Windows 2003 servers, and clients on our Windows 2003 servers desiring 4.0 will need to be migrated to our Windows 2008 servers. Contact support@adhost.com with any questions.

How to limit junk email
Posted in TechnologyEven though our spam filters and other techniques reject 19 out of 20 emails sent to our clients’ POP accounts, we are realize that everyone is still getting junk emails. Here are two things you should check which could help:
1. If you have a catch-all account which receives email to anything@yourdomain.com, turn it off. Here are instructions for catch-all mailboxes.
2. You can adjust the spam filter level on your Adhost pop account(s) by logging into your client control panel and selecting “Email Manager.” Read more about how to adjust email filters.
Note: that these fixes only apply to Adhost clients with POP accounts on our mail servers, not clients with email aliases which we forward to POP accounts hosted elsewhere.
