IPv6 Update
Posted in IndustryAs of February 3rd, 2011, the last of the available pool of IPv4 addresses has been assigned to the Regional Internet Registries for assignments to customers in their region. This means that there will be no more IPv4 addresses available for assignment in approximately one year.
Fortunately, Adhost has been using IPv6 on our network for many years and we are prepared for both the middle phase when IPv4 and IPv6 are in use simultaneously, and the IPv6-only future. If you are interested in moving forward with an IPv6 deployment of your own, please send an email to ipv6@adhost.com and we’ll help you through the process.
For more information about IPv4 depletion, please see the ARIN announcement at http://www.nro.net/news/ipv4-free-pool-depleted.

IPv6 Update from Adhost CTO
Posted in Company News,IndustryAs of January 30th, Adhost is Time Warner Telecom’s first IPv6 customer. Adhost has been at the forefront of the IPv6 rollout and has been committed to convincing our providers to adopt IPv6 across their networks. We currently have multi-homed IPv6 connectivity through Time Warner and NTT/Verio, and we’re working to get additional IPv6 connectivity through AboveNet and Level 3.
The latest estimates indicate that the last available IPv4 space will be allocated and used by 2011. After that point, no additional IPv4 addresses will be available for use on the Internet. Adhost has been actively using IPv6 space since 2005, so we are well positioned to transition seamlessly to an IPv4/IPv6 “dual-stack” Internet and then to an IPv6-only Internet.
If you have any questions about IPv6, visit our IPv6 support page or send email to mksmith <at> adhost.com. I’m always more than happy to answer questions.

Spam Levels Decrease Across the Internet
Posted in IndustrySpam email across the Internet dropped dramatically on November 11 when an email and hosting provider in San Jose, CA was cut off from Internet connectivity by its upstream providers. This has had a positive impact on the amount of spam Adhost and other Internet companies have to process.
Starting on November 11, the overall number of emails coming into our email system dropped by 60%. We are still getting the same amount of valid emails, but the totals have dropped from 15 million per day to 5-6 million per day. 10 million less spam email per day is a GOOD thing. Read more.
