The amount of email we process each day has more than doubled in the past year. Currently, we are handling approximately 14 million incoming email messages per day of which we discard or otherwise refuse approximately 95% (19 out of 20). Our spam/virus filters then go to work and mark or reject about 1/3 of the remaining 5% (depending on the individual POP/IMAP account spam setting). We are pleased to report that our investments in and fine-tuning of the network infrastructure, load balancers, SMTP servers, database servers, and filters are keeping up with the ever growing volume of email. We continue to take every reasonable measure to limit the amount of junk mail you receive each day, and we are certainly aware that spam still gets through, but it would be more than 20 times worse without our filtering system. We also continuously examine and, in those cases where practical, implement alternatives and options for reducing unwanted mail to increase the efficiency and value of our mail system.
