Adhost Servers Unaffected by Blaster Worm

Adhost strives to keep its shared and managed collocated servers up to date with the latest patches and security updates. Due to our diligence and prompt attention to security bulletins, we are happy to report this latest round of viruses compromised no servers.

Email Worm Nuisance

The Latest SoBig worm wreaked havoc on email boxes worldwide. If you are using the Adhost Spam Filter (which updates nightly with the latest spam and virus definitions) you most likely saw quite a few "sterilized" emails in your In Box from abuse@adhost.com. These messages are simply notifications that a virus was sent to you - possibly from an infected machine. Our mail filter stripped the offending code from these emails and notified you of the event. If you are not using the Adhost Spam Filter and would like to, or if you simply have questions regarding filtering parameters, please contact our Support Department (mailto:support@adhost.com). One last reminder, keep your virus programs updated and running and always use caution when opening email attachments to ensure a virus-free In Box. Please note that while we make every effort to filter these types of messages out, we do not guarantee that email filtered by the Adhsot Spam Filter will be virus free.

Power Outages

The power outages on the east coast brought up many questions regarding Adhost's power infrastructure. We would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that our power backup system is state-of-the-art, redundant, and designed to withstand natural and man-made power interruptions.

Highlights:

  • Dual access to Seattle City Light power grid sub-stations attached at three physically diverse entrances.
  • Fully backed up UPS power, and six multi-megawatt generators that can run at full capacity for weeks with emergency refueling as needed.
